Queen of this region in Alto Alentejo, the chestnut used in this gin comes from centuries-old chestnut trees. The inspiration for developing this gin came from travels through Marvão and its cultural and natural beauty.

Benefício Chestnut Gin conveys the aromas and scents of winter, transporting us to warm and cozy places. In summer, we drink Chestnut Gin at sunset by the castle and smile as we watch it. Marvão offers the richest sensory journeys, and this gin is the perfect companion.

A different choice

The creation of Marvão’s worlds in this Portuguese gin became possible because the local community believed in it and shared the best it had to offer.

A sustainable choice

The use of distinctive raw materials with a positive environmental impact is part of Benefício’s philosophy, and the Marvão Chestnut meets all these principles.

Distilling

This gin is macerated inside the copper still, where it is subsequently distilled, and is produced using the London Dry method, meaning it is the product of a unique distillation.

Preparation suggestions

Chestnut Gin Tonic

Ingredients:
  • Ice
  • Rosemary for smoking
  • Fresh rosemary
  • Benefit of Chestnut Gin (1x = 5cl)
  • Tonic water (4x)

How to prepare

First, place ice in the glass to moisten it. Once the glass is sufficiently moist, remove the ice. Next, burn a small sprig of rosemary with a blowtorch. When it starts to smoke, place the glass upside down, acting as a lid over the smoke, and let it smoke until the glass becomes hazy. After smoking the glass, add ice until it fills half the glass. Add a small sprig of fresh rosemary, pour in a shot of Chestnut Gin (5 cl), add four shots of tonic water (5 cl x 4), and stir gently to mix.
